Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole daughter of Richard McCormick Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her parents were her mother, who was a housewife and a father who was a teacher. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick started dancing and singing in her early years and would often perform puppet shows in front of the kids in her community. Her rise to fame as a fairytale began when she took home the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was six, which prompted an inquiry from the talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency and asked her if she would like to be in show business. McCormick found her first role as a leading actress in 1964. McCormick was in an advertisement for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. In the year that followed, she appeared in another commercial that aired on TV for the doll Chatty Cathy. Soon afterward, McCormick was cast at La Jolla Playhouse to play the part of the character Wind It up until It breaks. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was selected out of a crowd of over 1500 children who had auditioned for the role of the oldest of three towheaded girls on the new TV sitcom The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed as newlyweds with an unintended family. The show lasted five seasons. In her memoir Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008 McCormick revealed that during the fifth season of the show, she nearly lost her virginity to her screen brother and co-star Barry Williams. She was just 16 when she was in the scene; he was 19. She stated, but the time wasn't right for us.
