Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen enjoyed playing sporting games when she was a kid and she excelled at sports. Her inherent ability to perform was the perfect match for the passion she had for sport. She was evident as she took home each Feis to show and play in Ireland. In the year 14 she had been accepted at the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her aspirations of classical theatre and operatic singing. It was this path that would be modified, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing screenings of Maureen was captivated by her beautiful, captivating eyes. Prior to casting her on the screen in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton as well as his co-star Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" which was a little more concise name for the marquee. Maureen FitzSimons' next movie (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame 1939) was to be filmed by RKO Pictures in America under agreement with Laughton. Her contract with Laughton was bought by RKO when this movie had such an enormous successful. Maureen was 19 at the time she was starring alongside Laughton in two films.
